"Uh, thanks. And yeah," Joseph smiled, taking a seat beside the girl. "His name's Esau." Joseph patted the sleeping animal's head. Settling down more comfortably, he positioned himself so that Esau would be able to sleep more comfortably. Resting one hand on the sheep's head, he held out his free hand to Taylor. "I'm Joseph," he introduced himself with a smile.

Taylor smiled as she looked at the sleeping lamb. "He's really cute. Kinda reminds me of my friend's pet dog." she said, before readjusting her position to a more comfortable one, so that she could properly face Joseph. Not that she cared much about being "proper", but it was good to be nice once in a while, especially in the presence of a cute guy. "Joseph, huh? I'm Taylor. Nice to meet you." Taylor said, extending a hand to the other.

"Nice to meet you, too," he smiled, shaking her hand. Wow. Pretty and nice. That was a nice change of pace. Esau stirred in his sleep from his place in Joseph's lap. Frowning a little, Joseph held him a bit closer. The lamb began to kick in his sleep, his expression looking as thought the poor thing were in pain. "Uh oh," Joseph said, suddenly holding him close to his chest. The lamb made soft little "bahhing" sounds, so Joseph stroked his fur gently, whispering. "Sh, shh.." When at last the animal had calmed down, and went back to a peaceful slumber, Joseph turned to look at Taylor sheepishly. "Sorry about that. He has nightmares sometimes."

Taylor giggled at the little lamb. "That's alright. I don't mind. Try having a unicorn kick things when he's having nightmares." she said with a smile. She then frowned a bit, as she noticed that she probably sounded like a really crazy person. "Erm, maybe I should explain that..." she said with a shy smile.

Joseph blinked. A unicorn? Did nothing make sense at this school? "Hey, so far this morning I've managed to make friends with a girl from the future who could fly. I'm sure believe anything at this point," he laughed.

"Okay." Taylor said with a nervous laugh. She really hoped that she wouldn't have to explain her entire past. That alone managed to scare the best of them off. "Well see, the law enforcement teacher here owns a unicorn. That unicorn's name is Bob, and he's kind of my best friend." she said with her trademark sharp-toothed grin. "He and I have been through quite a lot, let's just say, and I've had a bit of a rough past." Taylor said, shrugging a bit.

Joseph nodded as she explained herself. He couldn't help but grin back at the sight of her bright smile. "I understand. We've...had sort of a rough past as well," he replied, looking down at Esau as he spoke. His tone grew a bit softer, as it had with Sari before. Much like Taylor, he hoped that he didn't have to elaborate. "But, hey, you can only move forward, right?" He looked back with a shrug and a small laugh.

"That's very true." Taylor said, almost sighing with relief. Thank God she wasn't going to have to force herself to explain everything. The brunette then leaned back a little into the bench, looking back at Joseph. "So, what house are you in?" she asked with a smile.

"Thunderhoof," he answered with a smile. He was glad that she hadn't pressured him about his past as well, and said a quick prayer of thanks as he leaned back on the bench.

"Bummer. I'm in Silvershadow." Taylor said with a smirk. "We don't have too many cute guys like you around here." she said nonchalantly. Again, she realized what she had just said, and came back up to face Joseph. "I'm so sorry. I tend to slip a lot when I'm talking to guys..." she said shyly, with a small tinge of red across her face. Pfft, if only Clopin was here. He'd know what to do.

Joseph blinked at her words, turning bright red. Did she just called him cute?? Clearing his throat, he nervously reached behind his head to run a hand through his hair. "Er, it's fine," he said shyly, giving a nervous laugh. "Honestly, there aren't many cute girls in Thunderhoof. I guess they're in Silvershadow." He laughed. Suddenly, he stopped. Now he was slipping up! Turning beat red, he bit his lip, looking away sheepishly.

Taylor crossed her arms with a smirk as she looked to Joseph with half-closed eyes. "So, I'm not the only one who thinks that, huh?" she asked, with a laugh. "But hey, it's fine! At least I was able to meet someone...interesting, like I was hoping to." Taylor said, wondering what else she could probably embarrass herself with.
"Um...I really don't know what else to say." she admitted finally.

Joseph gave Taylor a lopsided grin, still a bit embarrassed. "Really? You think I'm interesting?" He shook his head, laughing a little. "Well, you seem pretty interesting yourself." After a moment of silence, he cleared his throat. "Hey, um, do you wanna, maybe, hang out sometime?" He asked nervously.

"I thought you'd never ask. Of course I would." Taylor said with a smile. "And thanks. You know, for your last comment." she said, with a shrug. It wasn't until she really paid attention that she noticed Joseph's coat. "That's a really colorful coat you've got. Did someone make it for you?" she asked.

Joseph grinned. "Great!" Upon her asking about his coat, however, his face fell a little. "Yes," he answered slowly. "My...my mother made it for me. Some of the fabric's fallen apart now, so I...kinda of sewed it into one of the school robes." He fingered the brightly colored fabric for a moment, remembering the first day that he had worn it. Rachel had made it for him because he was special. A miracle child. And Joseph had believed that. But now he knew better. He knew that he was ordinary, not some unbelievable blessing from God.
