Sari pulled back at the lamb's sudden noise, a shocked expression on her face. "Really? Huh. I feel special," she giggled, and patted the little lamb once more. If everyone here was like Joseph, she could definitely get used to this place. He seemed like a really nice and reliable guy, plus, he had a freakin' pet LAMB, which was totally adorable. She didn't want to let the conversation with him die, so she started a new topic.
"So, where ya' from?"

"Me? Oh, um, Canaan," he said, his tone growing a bit quieter. "It's a small town, in Arizona, he shrugged. Not many people so far had ever heard of it. At least, not the people he had asked, in hope of relocating his family. They had sort of lived out in the middle of no where. and Joseph couldn't exactly just go wandering out in the desert, hoping that he might stumble across their little farm. "At least, that's where i grew up. I just recently came from New York. I...had to move into a new family." He looked away, hoping that she wouldn't ask him anymore about his past. It still pained him to think about it, let alone talk about with someone he'd just met. "What about you?" He smiled, trying to keep the conversation cheerful.

"New York? Cool! I've never been there, but I wanna go so bad!" she noticed him look away, and calmed down a little bit. "Ah, sorry you had to move to a new family... I've had my share of family issues too," she crossed her arms and gave a small, sympathetic smile.
"I'm from Detroit, and this place is a looooot different from the Detroit I'm used to," she paused, pondering those differences for a brief second. "Not enough robots, I think."

"Robots?" He raised an eyebrow. This girl was definitely different from the ones he had grown up with. "That's...wow, um, interesting," he smiled sheepishly, unable to think of a better word. "It sounds really exciting where you came from."

"Yep! My dad invented pretty much all of 'em. They help out around the city. One of them was even my tutor for a good 7 years," she placed her hands on her hips and sighed, reliving the memories of tricking Tutor-Bot and sneaking outside to cause even more mischief. "Good times, gooood times."
"It sounds really exciting where you came from." Joseph had said. Sari couldn't help but laugh.
"Oh, you have no idea."

Joseph laughed. "I wouldn't really know much about 'exciting', to be honest. Canaan was pretty much out in the middle of no where, and I didn't really get to see much of New York, since I had to work a lot," he petted Esau playfully as he paused. He didn't want to dump out his whole life story in one sentence. "But I had this little guy to keep me busy," Joseph smiled. "And, as you can see, that can be plenty exciting as it is."

"Heh, you're right on the money with that. Good boy, Esau!" Sari gave the lamb yet another loving pat on the head. "Hey, who knows, maybe someday you can visit Detroit!" she smiled up at Joseph hopefully. She had to admit, she was curious about him. He didn't seem to be very open about himself, but then again, Sari was used to the opposite. She wasn't quite used to having another human as a friend, either. Unless you counted Captain Fanzone, but... he was Captain Fanzone.

Joseph smiled back. "Maybe so. It would be an interesting place to visit," he replied. She seemed a bit on the curious side. Maybe they could be friends, if she wasn't too judgemental of his past... Wait a minute, what was he saying? He couldn't tell her about that...at least, not yet. "You seem really nice," Joseph said with a lopsided grin. "What house are you in?"

Sari smiled. "You too. And I'm in Thunderhoof," she pulled out the little ID card she had received upon registration, and poked the little emblem next to her name. "How 'bout you? What house are you in?"

Joseph grinned broadly. "No way! I am too!" He laughed. Meanwhile, Esau was attempting to get down from Joseph's arms again to nibble at some of the grass down below. Joseph held tighter to the sheep. "Un-uh, mister, not after the last time you don't," he scolded jokingly.

Sari clasped her hands together excitedly. "Really?! Awesome!" She was ecstatic to actually know someone in her house. Even though he'd probably be in the guy's dorm all the time, but still. It was cool.
"...maybe you should get him a leash," she said with a laugh, upon noticing the lamb trying to escape.

"Maybe I should," Joseph laughed. He loved Esau, but he'd be danged if that animal didn't manged to get into some sort of trouble everyday. Perhaps a leash would be a good idea. It was great that Sari happened to be in the same house as him. Maybe he could actually have a friend for once. But having a friend was dangerous for Joseph. He had to remind himself that. He never knew when he was going to be taken away again. Potiphar might change his mind about letting Joseph go to this school. What would happen then? If he were to make friends, he would be torn away from them, just like he had been torn away from his family. "So, um, you like to fly a lot?" Joseph asked with a weak smile. It had to be the dumbest question he could think of, but it was also the only one he could think of.

Sari perked up at the question. "Psh, heck yeah I do! Its the greatest feeling in the whole wide world. Its pretty convenient too, cause then my friends don't have to be careful abo--" she stopped herself. She was about to say "about stepping on me". Wow. What would he think of her if she told him all her friends were giant alien robots? He'd probably think she was weird and never talk to her again. "....about looking out for me. I'm a lot safer if I can fly away from stuff. Detroit can be a pretty dangerous place. Heh." Okay, so not a total lie.

Joseph listened to her explanation with interest. It had sounded like she was going to say something else for minute there, but he decided not to question her about it. He didn't want to sound rude and already loose a friend he had just made. "That sounds really cool. I like to run, myself," he smiled. He did, especially when the wind hit his face just right, and the grass was just soft enough for him to run without shoes.

"Running?" She raised an eyebrow, as if the concept of using ones legs was some sort of crazy idea. "Cool," she said despite herself. "I don't really run a whole lot, as you can imagine. Never did, really." She laughed and waved her jetpack's 'wings' back and forth. "Are you on like... a track team or anything?"
