Opal gasped slightly as the cloth around her stomach turned bright red. Placing her hand over it she glared at Nick.
"QUIN! SOUL REASONANCE!" she yelled.

The two girls' souls sparked together, glowing brightly. Quin's pistol form changed, vines crawling up Opal's arm and as the gun changed into a machine gun. Opal aimed at Nick.
"Soul Reasonance," Quin and Opal said together, "Thorn Barrage!"
With that said Opal opened fire on Nick.

Nick's eyes bulged as he saw Quin and Opal use Soul Resonance so quickly. A new partnership like this, and they could already use something like THAT. It was incredible...and he couldn't rival it, so he simply tried to dodge as quick as possible.

Opal knew that they where having a bit of trouble with the soul reasonance. They'd have to work on it, but so far they where doing okay. Opal fired at Nick, basically following him as he tried to out run it.

Nick had no idea what to do now, and didn't have the time to think. His mind was going blank on what to do, and instict had taken over. Shots were wizzing by, and getting closer every time. The only thing he could hope for was that Opal and Quin became too unstable to use their resonance.

Opal fired another round until the reasonance broke. She fell over and laid on the grass panting slightly. Seems like she was still the weak one in her clan. She hissed in pain as her stomach felt like it was on fire.

Nick walked over to Opal and sheathed his blades. He stuck out a hand and smiled.
"That was awesome, you almost destroyed me. And controlled Soul Resonance this soon after meeting? Amazing Opal!" he praised

"Thanks Nick," she said taking his hand, Quin's gun form was on the ground a bit away from her. The girl changed back and smiled at Opal.
"THAT WAS AWESOME!" she yelled jumping up at down, "You're so cool Opal!"
Opal shook her head lightly, she wasn't cool or anything remotly awesome, she was a failer as a Star Clan assassin. Just like Zaria had pointed out years ago.

"I bet your mom and pop'd be pretty happy with that progress. Way quicker than I've ever seen." Nick assured. With training, Opal could be the most powerful Star Clan member he'd seen.

She smiled at Nick and laughed.

Nick smiled back "Thanks, Justin's taught me well I guess." he said. He was actually kicking himself for blanking in the middle of a battle. Not only had Justin taught him better, but now his dad was gonna lecture him again, just what he needed.

Quin smiled at the two, "That was an awesome fight! Can we do it again?"

Opal laughed at her partner, "Give me a few minutes."
She looked down at her shirt a tore it at the cut mark. She needed to see how deep Nick had gotten her.

Nick saw the cut on Opal, had HE done THAT? He knew he'd sliced her some, but that bad? It made him feel bad he'd lost his temper for a bit there, and he looked away guilty.

"Nick?" Opal asked looking over at the boy, "what's wrong evans?" She cocked her head to the side and stood up.
"If you show remorse it makes you look weak," she said, "you did great. Be proud of it."

Opal was right, remorse in battle was weak, even against a friend. He snapped himself out of it for now, and smiled.
"Yeah, greater than you. You and your shrimpy weapon there can't beat me yet I'd say." he boasted
