"Yeah, sorta......You okay?" He cocked his head and turned to look at Maka. He had spotted that out of the corner of his eye.

"Okay," he smiled a tiny bit and moved on to drawing up another rune, "You understanding all of this so far?" He was drawing a rune that looked like a Y with a line dividing the v-like top of the letter.

"This one is Elhaz," Hanna smirked, "It's a guardian rune. It protects from evil magic and unwanted danger, and enhances the user's magical powers at the same time. it also can stand for friendship or caring deeply for someone, if two give the rune to each other."

"Yeah, it's a pretty powerful bond," Hanna blushed, watching her practice that rune, "I hear it's not easily broken, and it's only actually BEEN broken once.... But they were some powerful forces that pulled it off."

"Really?" Maka asked looking at him out of the corner of her eye. She tried hard to get that one nearly perfect. Something made her want to give it to him.

"Oh yeah," he continued, drawing it on another sheet beyond her view just in case. He then returned to his old paper and sketched an off-kilter X, where one line was vertical, "This rune is for need. Usually when this is drawn on one's self or a surrounding area, it signals for help, be it from the gods or any mystical powers aligned with the person. I've used this one more than I can even remember.."

Maka laughed at that before copying it. She smiled at Hanna as they started getting more into it.

They were basically a quarter of the way through the Nordic runes, and he decided they would stop once they finished this set. He had to brush up on his Hallristningar before introducing anything more difficult to Maka. "Hey, it gets tough settling disputes between hobgoblins. They're nasty little things," Hanna defended, Sowilo, a curveless S, "And this one is the rune of Victory. It's barely used these days, but I guess you can figure out how you use it."

Maka nodded, though she was getting kind of sleepy the runes where actually really fun. She smiled sleepily and drew the rune.

"You getting tired?" Hanna looked at the quality of the runes, "We can finish later, if you want. There's so many, and you shouldn't miss sleep."

"No its ok," Maka yawned, "I've stayed up later than this studying. Sorry just haven't been able to sleep lately..."
As she talked she started falling asleep. Leaning on his shoulder her eyes closed and she fell asleep.

He was stuck. He didn't want to move and wake her up, but he was freaking out inside. Nervously, he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and continued to work on homework one-handedly.
