Hershel's cheeks were quite pink once Claire hugged him. He hugged her back anyways. He was unaware that two other men already liked Claire, but even if he did know, he wouldn't care. He was the one who was happy with her, not those two. "You'll have a wonderful time at dinner, Claire. I promise."

"I know I will if I'm with you" she smiled.

Hershel brushed away a few strands of loose hair from Claire's face. "I'm certain just being with you will make me happy as well, dear." he said. How he loved Claire and her beautiful hair. Her eyes and her darling glasses.

She smiled, "We're so happy together."

"I don't know what I would do without you Claire." Hershel said with a smile. If he lost Claire, he would be devastated. He would be heartbroken, maybe even lose his own life without her just to be with her. No, he wouldn't do that. He would go on with being an archeology teacher one day.

"Me either. I love you too much" she told him.

I love you too much. Words that perfectly described both Hershel and Claire. Words that made Hershel want the best for Claire no matter what. Even though his cheeks still had a bit of color to them, it was starting to fade from his face. "Maybe one day we could..." Hershel paused for a moment. No, he couldn't think that far ahead.

"One day we could what?" she asked, but could guess what he would say.

"Oh, it's nothing, I'll tell you later." Hershel said with a smile. He didn't want to say anything that would drive Claire away from him.

"Oh Claire, you know that never works with me." Hershel said with a chuckle. "I'll tell you later. Maybe at dinner tonight." Yeah, dinner. Unless Hershel was much too embarrassed and decided to get out of it.

"You remember when I first met you, Claire?" Hershel asked. He certainly remembered when he first met Claire. The prettiest thing that caught his beady eyes. That's what Claire was.

"If we ever were to have kids, I'd like to tell them all about how we met." Hershel said. His cheeks were pink yet again. What made him say something like that?
