((the awkwardness of them is actually perfect, cause that's what they were like at the time. :3)) Good, she'd be happy to go to dinner. "Well, that's good then." he said with a smile. Maybe one day they would get married, maybe even have children. Maybe Hershel was thinking too far ahead. "What experiment are you hoping to try at the lab sometime?"

(yaaay!) "The cure for the common cold." She sighed. "No one's been able to discover it."

Cure for a common cold? Huh. Hershel never thought of that. "That would be quite the puzzle. I'm sure you could figure it out, though." he said with a smile. Puzzles. Even though he wasn't too great at them, he wanted to be. He wanted to teach, to marry Claire. Hershel wanted a few things in life.

"Thank you" she said. "So what will be on the dinner menu?" she asked.

Hershel hadn't thought of that part. "Well, I suppose it'll be a surprise. It'll have to stay a puzzle until tonight." he said. Yes, he would find an amazing place to go, a place that Claire would love. A french restaurant perhaps? Yes, sounded perfect.

"Oh, I love surprises" she smiled

"Yes, you could think of surprises like puzzles. Every puzzle has an answer. You'll just have to guess where we'll go if it's a surprise." Hershel said. Yes, that sounded about right, didn't it?

She smiled, "Puzzles and surprises are fun"

"Yes, they are quite fun, aren't they?" Hershel said with a smile. "The best part is trying to figure it out. Not having the answer right away."

"That reminds me!" She pulled out a writing pad from her bag. "I got you a riddle book"

A riddle book? Interesting. "Thank you, Claire." Hershel said, taking the writing pad from her. He'd come up with something amazing to give back. He would make sure he did that for her. She was the best thing that ever happened to him.

"Your very welcome!" she said to him. She really didn't exspect anything in return.

Well, Hershel would think of something besides marriage to repay her. Maybe something extra at dinner that night? Sure, sounded fair to Hershel. After all, he was going to surprise her with a french restaurant, why not add something extra in there? She was always worth it. "I've always loved you, Claire. From the moment I first saw you, I knew you were the one." he said.

She hugged him. She always knew he loved her, he was to nice to her not to. "Yes, I know. I love you to"
